Sheriff Sale Application

What you will need to complete this application:
  • The "Order and Judgment" paperwork you received when you purchased this property at the Sheriff's Sale. This document must be confirmed in court or your application will be denied. You will need this document in a PDF format so you can upload it with your application. Click here to see an example.
  • The number of the suit in which your property was included in the Sheriff's Sale.
  • For Commercial applications, all applicants will need to answer a set of questions depending on the type of business for which you are applying or the business type that most recently occupied the structure/space you purchased. You can see the various business types and pre-print the questions for yours here:
Cost of this application:
  • Commercial: $80.00 for spaces below 3500 sq ft and $160.00 for spaces 3500 sq ft and above.
  • Residential: $80.00 for the initial structure and $20.00 for each additional unit. For example, the application fee for a four-family dwelling would be $160.00.
  • Mixed Use: separate applications will need to be made for each respective area of the structure.
Payment Types:
  • The City accepts payment by credit card or e-check.
  • There is a 2.55% processing fee, with a minimum of $1.55, that is added for credit cards. There is a flat fee of $1.50 added for e-checks. The City does not receive any of these funds. Thank you for your cooperation.

Requesting a Date for Inspections:
  • It is not necessary to schedule an inspection at this time, but you will be able to. If you do not schedule an inspection, then you will receive email reminders to schedule your inspection after your application has been processed. If no inspection is scheduled within 60 days of your application, then it will be abandoned and a Building Inspector will be dispatched to your property to perform an inspection to assess it for building code violations.
  • The earliest you can request an inspection date is 5 business days from the date of your application.
  • The furthest out you can request an inspection date is 14 business days from the first available date.
Issuance of Occupancy Permit:
  • Once you application has been processed by the Permit section, then you will receive an email confirming your requested inspection date as well as a list of all inspectors that have been assigned to your application along with their contact information.
  • Your occupancy permit will only be issued after ALL inspectors and the Zoning Department have approved your application.
